Book Review: Haunted Love

Spirit, Texas, is a town of secrets, and as the new owner of the local haunted movie theater, Cody Stryker is juggling more than his fair share. When a mysterious new girl comes to town and runs afoul of the ghost that lives in his theater, Cody's caught in the middle and needs to figure out exactly who he can trust.

This was a weird story. It almost felt like it could’ve been a full-length novel, but was cut down. A lot of scenes were rushed, and most of the time I was left going, “Whaaat?”

Basically, Cody is a vampire after he orders a vampire potion off the internet. He murders his abusive uncle, buys the local, rundown theater, and decides to fix it up. There, he meets a female ghost, who’s trying to tell him something. At first, Cody believes she’s just jealous of the new girl helping out at the movie theater, but then he learns the real reason she’s upset.

Overall, this was a quick read, with little to no development. I guessed one of the twists well in advance of it actually happening, and the ending was meh. I wish this would’ve been longer, so readers could dive into the relationship between Cody and his uncle, Cody and the new girl, and Cody and the ghost girl. If you like stories about vampires and ghosts, I’d recommend picking up this book.
