Sugar &&Spice

So I've been thinking, guys. I have this weird obsession with buying books. I think it's the fact that I LOVE the smell and the feel of the pages. (screw you, Kindle!)

...and I haven't read half of them. That's the sad part. I have five books on my nightstand that have been started and never finished.

Like, they're overflowing from boxes in front of my bookshelf because my bookshelf is completely full.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who suffers from this. GUYS! I may need an intervention. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy anymore until all of those others were read. I broke my promise!! And it doesn't even hurt my feelings...

I'll tell you what did it--Ebay.

Ebay is a product of the devil's work. I was doing great until I happened to get on there yesterday and bought books I'd never heard of (but they sounded so awesome!), and then I found out that Pretty Little Liars is based on a book series. I've been dying to watch that show. (pssst.. it premieres on June 8th)

Guys, please tell me I'm not the only writer/reader who suffers from this addiction. Tell me I'm not losing my mind and that I need to read about these other worlds before I jump into new ones. Promise me that you'll run me over with your car/truck/SUV/semi/airplane before you let me buy another book. Because that's what friends do. Writing friends don't let other writing friends buy more books until they're finished with the ones they already have. Right, guys? RIGHT?

  1. I think I'm a bad friend, because I can't tell you you're not losing your mind, since I am, too. I can't remember the last time I finished all the books I bought... I think it's a writerly curse.

  2. I'm always buying books that take me ages to read. There are a few books on my shelf that I haven't got to, and a new batch just arrived a few days ago. Mainly, though, it's because I'm not too interested in reading them. Two are sequels to books I didn't enjoy. And the others have been left because more exciting books have come along. It's bad, really, but I won't stop buying! I feel your pain.

  4. I'm addicted to books too, though I try to take it easy on our budget as much as I can!

    I left something for you on my blog today...

  5. You are not alone in your addiction! Right by my keyboard is a list of the books I must read before I die of stubby fingers!

  7. You would not want me as a friend because I would be a horrible influence! I have a huge stack of books to read and I just stumbled on the Pretty Little Liars series myself! Just got done watching the first episode! Amazing. I'll be buying book 2 in the morning.
